On the 10th of December 2021, the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 Consortium was glad to organize a hands-on meeting with the project’s Advisory Board (AB). With transformative ideas and significant experience, leading representatives of the international aviation community, have helped the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 team with their high-quality advice and specialist knowledge to achieve our goals as we continue to develop our portfolio of achievements and findings.

Our project partner EMBRAER S.A. has produced a wonderful video that gives a glimpse into the exciting journey of the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 Project and its team of researchers towards a greener aviation in the future.

“Aviation has to become more sustainable and what we are trying to achieve in FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 is to prepare the grounds for a hybrid-electric 50 seat aircraft” explains the project coordinator, Prof. A. Strohmayer.

Having reached beyond the halfway point of its three-year lifetime, the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 project successfully held its mid-term review meeting on the 12th of October 2021 in a digital format, bringing together the Work Package Leaders and the European Commission Project Officer.

FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 project and FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 Academy are delighted to announce that they will be part of the 11th EASN Virtual International Conference, that will be held in a digital format from 1 to 3 September 2021. This year more than 380 presentations will be carried out, rounded up by 9 keynote lectures.

With the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 Academy’s official launch now already well behind us, our participants find themselves in the middle of the work on the topics agreed with their FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 mentors. During the first week of September, the academy participants will present the results of this work in the course of the 11^th  EASN conference, which this year once more has to take place in a virtual format.

The first 2021 summer issue of the quarterly e-newsletter of the European Aeronautics Science Network (EASN) is out now! It features the latest news and progress of the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 project as well as useful links to our recent open-access publications.

On Monday 28th of May 2021, researchers from Cranfield University, EMBRAER S.A., Embraer RT Europe and University of Stuttgart who have been assigned as mentors of the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 academy participants from the University of Palermo, gathered online with their mentees in a productive meeting.

Our FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 Russian partner, State Research Institute of Aviation Systems (GosNIIAS), is very pleased to organize the 6th International Scientific and Technical Conference "Prospects of Civil Avionics Development" within the framework of MAKS-2021 on July 22, 2021.

The FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 project team is particularly proud to have included in its plans the FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 Academy. The establishment of a FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 academy will help to prepare future professionals for the challenges of Flightpath 2050. In form of academic modules, workshops, and continuous professional development courses, FᴜᴛPʀIɴᴛ50 will foster a strong network of graduate and postgraduate students, post-doctoral researchers, and young engineers aligned with the hybrid-electric matters and dissemination of the tools created.

Undoubtedly, the pandemic has hit our past habits particularly hard with the large scale social gatherings being at the front row. No need to say that scientific gatherings such as conferences and workshops could not constitute an exception. In this frame, this year the well-known EASN International Conference went fully virtual for its 10th edition that was dedicated to “Innovation in Aviation & Space to the Satisfaction of the European Citizens”.
